तस्मिन् सति श्वासप्रश्वास्योर्गतिविच्छेदः प्राणायामः ॥४९॥
tasmin sati śvāsa-praśvāsyor-gati-vicchedaḥ prāṇāyāmaḥ ||49|| [RS] 2.49 Once harmony with the physical body has been achieved, through interruption of the movement engendered by inhaling and exhaling you attempt to harmonize your energy (pranayama). [JW] 2.49 When there is this [stability of posture] the restraint of breath a cutting off of the flow of inspiration and expiration [follows]. [SS] 2.49 That [firm posture] being acquired, the movements of inhalation and exhalation should be controlled. This is pranayama.
