अभ्यासवैराग्याभ्यां तन्निरोधः ॥१२॥
abhyāsa-vairāgya-ābhyāṁ tan-nirodhaḥ ||12|| [RS] 1.12 The state of yoga is attained via a balance between assiduousness (abhyasa) and imperturbability (vairagya). (अभ्यास, abhyāsa) = assiduousness; cheerfulness; practice
(वैराग्य, vairāgya) = imperturbability; indifference (आभ्यां, ābhyāṁ) = both (तन्, tan) = this (निरोध, nirodha) = tranquility; tranquility of all mutable things, i.e. attaining the state of yoga. |
